Happy holiday stitching!

I want to start so many wonderful quilts its absurd, but I have way too many started WIP that I'm working on my resolution for the new year. I have put in, two medium sized ( very over flowing ) baskets all the projects that are either in block form or have a few blocks to add or finish, next to my machine. There is also a basket of needing to be quilting or bound or sandwiched ( you get the idea) of WIP. I haven't counted but it could be much worse. My goal is not quite set yet. I have finished quite a few this year, so it is possible to finish quite a few of these started quilts. My problem is that one or two are in the small range, and as I do want to dig into my stash and start making larger quilts that will actually fit a bed, those projects will be needing blocks added to them. I am trying to set up time everyday and every week to devote to this goal. Many happy stitching days in the next year, as well as many posts on my blog to track my progress. Happy stitching to me!

Mug rug for December!

I did what I said I would do and made this one last month that way I wouldn't be crunched for time to get it done with all the other stuff I want/need to work on. I hopefully will have another sew day next week and have another finish for a friend done (so happy to get more done). Happy stitching!

I did it!!!

I went to my over load of strings and started matching up and sewing like crazy last night and a little this morning. Did a little trimming, took two layers of the batting she was on yesterday, sandwiched with a flannel backing for extra warmth, did a quick yarn tieing for the quilting, then a quick binding of fold over the backing and done!

She actually approves HURRAY! Merry Christmas to Zelda with her new cozy quilt, just the right size for an old cat. Happy stitching!

CATS !

We all love our furry critter friends. Well I finally caught mine on batting left on the floor while I was using the long dining table to quilt a quilt. Any how this is my calico cat ( so appropriate for a quilter) Zelda, isn't she pretty ( all cats are ). I guess I need to make her a small quilt she seems to really like them think I can make one before the new year????  Happy stitching!

Greetings and salutations!

I hope that everyone spent the Thanksgiving holiday with family, friends, and/or loved ones and that it was filled to over flowing with blessings from heaven. I thought I would finally share pictures of my other sewing day of fun.

First I had fun with crumbs and scraps. Just stitching up a storm, happy as a quilter can be.

Then I spent a good part of the time cutting scraps into usable sizes. The 2", 2/12", and 3 1/2" strips and squares, and 5 1/2" squares lots of potential for those, like the string diamonds these are so much fun I needed to make a few more to finish off a set of square blocks now it looks like I need to make more maybe for a table runner.
I finally had fun with some scraps and made a mess (8) of mug rugs for my executive board. Almost all done I had a lot of fun. I will definitely make more sewing days so that for my goal next year which is to finish more of the UFOs or WIP's that I have way too many. Many a happy stitching day for me next year. Hurray!

Need another sew day!

All of these scraps need to be dove into an put to better use than being stuffed into some kind of storage container.
I will try to find a day this week that doesn't have anything going on and see if I can do something with these wonderful bits of fabric.
Perhaps there are more gift quilts in these piles, so much potential, its crazy to think what I could make with these scraps.
Need to get a going maybe a little bit tomorrow morning. ( My feet are showing how silly is that? ) Happy stitching!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I wish everyone a very safe and happy Halloween! I did have some leaders and enders on my sew day that helped me get some small gifts done (a mess of mug rugs). I have completed the last two mug rugs and I will post them when the time is right. Novembers will be later this week and then Decembers will be in December. I do believe that January marks when I accidentally started the year of mug rugs. I didn't make a January mug rug just that when I made the first one so I do believe I will make a more winter type mug rug and then I am thinking of making another year and have already started choosing fabrics and layouts for another year in mug rugs I don't know what I will do with this new set I do believe it would make a great gift. Something to think about as always. Anyhow, Happy stitching!

That makes 12 hours!

When I put the top on the carpet to take the picture you couldn't see the border because it matched the carpet perfectly (lol). So I got a blanket to put under it so you could see the border, well I do believe I will have to see if I have some red fabric in my stash to put a second border on because that red really finishes this quilt nicely. One of those discovery moments that is unexpected but, wow what a huge difference!
I must say I have had a fabulous day and I needed this I was feeling blue at the beginning of the week this day really perked me up. I listened to Christmas music all day while sewing. When there was a hiccup I rolled with them and finished ( almost ) a whole quilt top. It isn't as dark as I thought it would be it looks nice and cheerful. The day was very dreary outside but I am very warm now. So if anyone is ever really down spend a day quilting. Happy stitching!

Here they all are!

Well what do you think? To make a decision about moving them into different positions but that would take way to long. Just get them sewn together and try to finish.

Hurray I Did It!

This is the last block I finished, I will adjust the right side it is a little off but for now its break for dinner and then try to get this in a setting. At any rate it has been a very good sewing day. Be back in a while.

Almost Done!

Hurray the string block, just had to get it right, looks like the Paddle Wheel block from Scrap-Basket Sensations.
The disappearing nine patch what a great easy block I hope it fits in with the other blocks. I have one more block to do and then its break for dinner then put them in a setting. I do believe I will have a top by the end of the day and get the quilt sandwiched but that will be all I do for the day and then Sunday I will get to the quilting (hopefully) stitching in front of a game sounds great. Keep stitching!

Let's Keep Stitching!

Okay a little coffee and chocolate can do wonders, plus the bus was late. When faced with set backs one should take into account what they know and remember the KISS method. I have made cuts for a disappearing nine patch and I will try the string block again by adding a strip that should make it 12 inches.
I will keep on stitching.
